Nadcomm Tour (toss)

37KSR (c 1973)

The last of the true "printing telegraph" machines. This neatly designed machine ran at 150 words per minute (150 baud) thanks to its 2 stop clutch design. The 37 had many advanced features, such as on-line tab set and clear, two-color ribbon, forward and reverse line feed, plus UPPER and lower case type. The RARE ASR model was a high maintenance product, due mostly to paper tape punches (called chad) backing up into the punch assembly. Introduced at the time of magnetic tape terminals and other less expensive and faster printers, most 37 Teletypes were purchased back from customers and re-sold to the Soviet Union along with some early vacuum tube computers.
